First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Mississippi is accepting applications for Director of Student Ministry. In this role the Director will serve as a highly relational, servant-leader for the Student Ministry Team at First United Methodist as they partner with staff, parents and volunteers alike in leading students towards spiritual maturity in Christ. The successful candidate will be a Gospel-centered leader who provides vision, accountability, direction and oversight to the ministry, by focusing on biblical teaching, intentional disciple-making, family oriented relational ministry, and a missional response to the Gospel as a way of life.

What We Are Searching For:
The successful candidate for this position will be an energetic and engaging communicator, highly relational, with complementary skills for leading a student ministry. They will possess a strong desire to nurture, expand, and maximize the potential of the student ministry at First United Methodist. The ideal prospect will possess an innate passion for student ministry, a foundational understanding of ministry development, and the necessary social/relational intelligence within the student, parent, and congregational spheres of the church. The candidate will also supervise a full-time Associate Director of Student Ministry as well as three college interns and roughly 20 adult volunteers.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the position will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at minimum. Seminary or graduate theological degree is preferred. Five to seven years experience leading a student ministry team and/or serving in a significant position within the team will be a preferred requirement for this position. The candidate must also possess strong administrative, organizational and communication skills. Additionally, the applicant must have a passport and be ready for international travel this upcoming July 1-8th.
