Connectional Ministries Project/Office Coordinator


This position is responsible for providing organization, broad administrative and project planning support for connectional ministries and communications for the Mississippi Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

  • Provide administrative support for connectional ministries and communications through coordinating committee meetings, travel itineraries (transportation, lodging, etc.)
  • Oversee administrative functions of the day-to-day activities of two multi-faceted ministry areas to ensure each office functions smoothly. 
  • Manage projects, determine priorities and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality, comfortably taking initiative and exercising independent judgment to resolve issues.
  • Organize events and prepare materials for meetings, training programs, community forums and conferences.
  • Conduct off-site work with administrative staff of various vendors and facilities, for set-up tasks and coordination of successful events.
  • Request, gather information and data from the administrative team leaders, board and agency to assist in preparing annual reports, summaries for local, jurisdictional and general church. 
  • Submit prepared materials for various print and web-based publications (i.e. annual journal).
  • Assist the director of connectional ministries and communications with administering the department budget, including monitoring and tracking expenses, budget reconciliation, resolving issues and assisting with developing budget projections, collecting information for budget development to ensure accuracy and compliance with approved budget and assigned codes.
  • Supervise office receptionist and intern support staff, as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must have prior executive level office administrative experience with proficient computer and software application skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Advance verbal and written communication skills, customer service oriented, capable of exercising independent decision-making and problem solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a highly dynamic office.
  • Knowledge of The United Methodist Church and the Mississippi Conference and/or a willingness to learn.
  • Must be capable of concurrently working independently as well as being an active participant on a team. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.  The salary will be commensurate with experience.
